ERA President’s Message

Greetings to ERA members and readers.
The 2nd half of the year 2021 continued to be eventful, so many things have changed, and yet we persevere together. This pandemic has created new ‘normals’ and has accelerated adoption of the digitalization in every aspect of our lives. Let us all continue to stay safe and healthy always.
Following concerns regarding the Omicron variant, the authorities have delayed the national transition to the “endemic phase”.  As of 12th December 2021, 78.1% of Malaysia’s total population have received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. An estimated 11.2% of the total population have received a booster dose.
As most social and economic sectors have been reopened, monitoring the transmission levels in the community and health care response capacity is important to maintain preparedness for any potential surge in the new cases. Moreover, authorities are active in planning and instating public health and social measures for any upcoming public events.
In line with the push for digitalization and going green, our future ERA Newsletters shall be in digital copy, which can be accessed and downloaded globally by the readers at any time. With this, we believe that the readership of our future ERA Newsletters will be increased.
We were also saddened by the passing of the wife of our Founding Advisor Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Soong Siew Hoong. May her Soul Rest In Peace.
Last but not least, we the ERA Board would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to all the generous sponsors and our dedicated Editorial Team for making our ERA Newsletter a great success. Special appreciation also goes to the Founding Advisor Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Soong Siew Hoong, Advisor Dato’ Dr.  Ong Eng Long, Advisor Datin Paduka Yong Dai Ying and IPP Roger Lye for their unwavering guidance and support. We look forward the continual support of all for our future ERA Newsletters and all the contributions shall go towards our ERA Building Funds.
We thank you.

With warmest regards
Mr. Wong Lian Kee
