- Jimmy has over 30 years of practical banking experience where he had specific responsibilities for Trade Finance operations & marketing, structuring of Trade Finance deals, conducting in-house training programs & workshops for staff and customers. He was also responsible for the Banks’ trade fee and interest income budgets (KPIs). He has also conducted numerous seminars on Trade Financing products, Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees and Auditing Trade Finance for Institute of Banks Malaysia (ABS), Bank Negara Malaysia, Local and Special Purpose Banks, ICC Malaysia and Public Training Companies.

- His last employment was as the Trade Advisor (Vice President) with OCBC Bank (M) Bhd. Jimmy has also recently completed his engagement as a Trade Advisor for a Trade System Development Company wherein he provided his System design inputs, guidance and experience in the development of an in-house Trade Finance System for a “Special Purpose Government Bank”.
- Jimmy started his banking career with Malayan Banking Bhd as a new Graduate Trainee before moving to The Chase Manhattan Bank N.A (now JP Morgan Chase) to head Trade Finance and Services (Assistant VP). Positions which Jimmy has held during the 30 years were, as Trade Advisor for AmBank (M) Berhad, Trade Advisor (VP) for EXIM Bank Malaysia Bhd, General Manager of Trade Finance for Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd, Vice-President and Head of Trade Services for Deutsche Bank (M) Bhd and Assistant General Manager and Head of International Trade Finance for Kwong Yik Bank Bhd (now RHB Bank).
- Jimmy Phua currently sits on the panel of Consultants at DocCredits Singapore, Finet Consulting Cambodia, Finet Associates Sdn Bhd. Malaysia, Malaysian Export Academy, Amity Diversified Thoth Capital Sdn Bhd, Intrafin Advisory, Australia And New Zealand Institute (ANZi), Australia and as trainer for Asian Banking School (Association of Banks), Malaysia.
